A note for musicians and singers...
I learned a valuable lesson while working at the radio station.  The
radio station had assured me that the musicians were getting paid.

Meanwhile, on a hiking trip via
http://meetup.com, I met someone who
works for BMI in LA.  I asked him if I'd get paid if I registered a song
with BMI and played it on my own radio show.

He informed me the only registered bands/singers who get paid for
radio air time are the ones heard on "censured or sampled stations."
Only apx. 400 radio stations across the US are censured by BMI.

Before submitting your work to any radio station, be sure it's
registered with BMI/ASCAP & also that it's being submitted to
terrestrial radio stations that are "censured (regularly monitored) or
sampled (randomly monitored)" by BMI or ASCAP.
Tune in to:
http://kclafm.com
or 99.3FM in Hollywood, CA
